Chris Brown unveils new Love More music video featuring Nicki Minaj...as he blasts his critics in angry tweet
He consistently makes headlines with his legal troubles.
But Chris Brown would like his critics to pay attention to his creative work.
The 24-year-old released his latest directorial effort on Saturday with a video for his song Love More featuring Nicki Minaj followed by a message hitting out at his detractors.
Revealing: Chris Brown unveiled his new music video Love More in which he shows his bones through an x-ray screen
Special guest: Featured rapper Nicki Minaj stole the video with a late appearance as she spit rhymes about sex and love
Seemingly without prompting, the singer tweeted a self-defensive message accompanying a link to the video.
The troubled star wrote: 'While you guys kill yourself over bulls*** ill keep directing stuff like this! Thx team breezy!!'
But the music video couldn't be further from the bitter missive.
Calling him out: The 24-year-old directed the video in which he sports an Oakland Raiders cap, perhaps identifying with their underdog status
Picking up the slack: Comedian Nick Swardson makes an unforgettable cameo in the video
Flashing the signs: Swardson plays a club goer with a 'stable' of women
The video opens with a young woman pulling up in a black SUV and calling out to Brown's window: 'Yo Chris!'
The singer sleepily responds by coming out naked to his balcony where he is inexplicably shielded by an X-ray screen, revealing his skeletal system.
'What's up,' the star asks.
The young woman replies: 'Hurry up, we're late.'
Freak out: As Brown's song cuts in the girls in the back seat flip and start screaming and dancing
Taking a turn: The convoluted video has Swardson attempting to claim Chris' son is his own
Switching out: The video cuts from the car scene to Brown belting out his diddy in a dark room sprayed with strobe lights
Later Brown is seen jumping behind the wheel of the girl's car.
And in a surprise twist, sitting shotgun is comedian Nick Swardson.
Swardson greets the R&B singer as he snaps his fingers while sporting a flat-billed cap.
Without prompting, the blonde funnyman explains: 'It's good, just surviving the game. Got some tricks in the back... my stable.'
Adding with comedic emphasis: 'Trick stallions. It's my stable.'
Flipping out: The Look At Me Now singer admired a female dancer's moves
Taking the floor: Brown went to the centre of the room to bust out his own moves
The Grandma's Boy star then Introduces his ladies, who are seated in the back seat of the car: 'That's Pearls, Curls, and Booty Pop.'
Then in a another improvisational moment the comedian blurts out: 'Let's make it rain. Making it rain. I got $30 cash, making it rain.'
The video then quite clunkily cuts to Brown singing under strobe lights, with back and forth cuts between him and Swardson in the car.
Surprise appearance: Minaj arrived on the scene to steal the entire video with her virtuoso performance
Taking a back seat: The troubled singer stood back as Minaj blasted away with one of her high velocity rhymes
But the video picks up it's narrative pace when they arrive at the nightclub where Brown alternates between dancing with a Harajuku girl, a twerker, and a salsa dancer.
Minaj then makes her appearance, but thehigh velocity rapper lays down a series of explosive rhymes that leave the rest of the song wanting in passion and verve.
The 30-year-old wears her ombre tresses in a sexy pile of curls over her shoulders as she raps candidly about sex and love.
His softer side: The Fine China singer showcased his rarely scene softer side
Skipping: The singer and dancer went for a group choreographed routine midway through
Meanwhile, Brown found himself in court again on Friday.
He was sentenced by a judge to 1,000 more hours of community service after the Los Angeles County district attorney discovered discrepancies in the singer's previous community service reports.
Brown supposedly completed his prior 180-day community service sentence - the result of his assault case against Rihanna - but it appears that he won't get credit for those hours.
That's because the D.A. believes Brown violated his probation by submitting fraudulent reports about how much work he actually did.
In one example from the D.A., the singer allegedly was headed off to Cancun despite officially stating that he was picking up trash in Virginia.
Loud mouthing it: The Super Bass rapper hit out with some adult language
Taking it down: The iconic and versatile artist talked honestly about sex
The silver lining for the singer is that the prosecutor did agree to reinstate Brown's probation, which was revoked last month as a result of an alleged hit-and-run incident in May, which was recently dismissed.
Brown will now have several choices in terms of community service - he can work for Caltrans on highway cleanup, beach cleanup, probation alternative work services (PAWS) or graffiti removal, according to TMZ .
And though he was originally allowed to complete the service hours in his home state of Virginia, he doesn't have that luxury this time, as the judge ordered he be supervised by L.A. County officials.
The thought of Brown cleaning grafitti is quite ironic, considering the singer was recently spotted in Hollywood making some art of his own.
